The Rain is Here

The rain in California has hit and it will keep on coming. We want to make sure you know what to look for in terms of water damage so you are able to handle it right away and prevent further damage. Here are some tips we recommend for you:

  1. Look for water stains on your ceilings, walls, around your bathtub, toilets, sinks, and flooring. These are the most common spots that will indicate you have some level of water damage. Other indicators are cracks in the drywall or spots that look swollen or soft to the touch. Peeling paint will also be a result of water damage in your walls and ceiling.

  2. Check your flooring. Tile and wood floors will manifest water damage with cracks and warping. Carpets will start to smell, get soft, or have damp spots.

  3. Protect the foundation of the house by inspecting the exterior of your house. You will want to look for pools of standing water that indicate signs of poor drainage in your yard or near gutter spouts. These can threaten your foundation.

  4. Inspect for rust and mold. Check your water heater for rust. Check for damp spots near the water heater. These can indicate a leaky pipe or water seepage. Check for visual signs of mold which is often in the corners and nooks of your home. Mold will also put out a distinct smell. It's vital to get this cleaned up.
